We can’t avoid it! When we step out by faith into anything…we’re going to encounter some stiff opposition. What an amazingly counter intuitive reality of the spiritual life. The absence of conflict is more often the result of us not moving with God. Our spiritual enemies have no need to chase us down when we’re zero threat to their sacred ground. Satan and his demons will allow faithlessness to stay asleep – they’ll “leave well enough alone”. So this means that the way to check our spiritual health is by the fever of the enemy to injure and kill us. If the enemy is heated by our moves…it could indicate a red-hot love for God in our heart. Living with this rattling around in our head…will keep us from losing our minds when the war is most fierce.
But because of this eminent threat…we must be “ready for war”. Preparedness is a “heart, soul, mind, and strength” thing. Notice how inside-out this really is. God’s best work always starts at the core. Here’s a simple way to approach God and what you can anticipate for your life: Tell him with all the passion you can muster – “Lord I give you my heart…I give you my soul…I live for you alone”. Get the truth in you. Talk truth up, think it over and live it out. Then you will have the strength to watch God give you “good success”. But we have to come back and revisit these often. Never let a morning begin without reaffirming your love and devotion to God. Never let a day go by that you don’t bring truth to mind and speak it out. Always be “ready for war”!
